Dr Jart Ceramidin Liquid Moisturizing Toner Review

Hi Divas

Wow, it has been bitterly cold in Cape Town these past weeks. We just flew by the first month of Winter in the Southern Hemisphere and we have had storm after storm. I'm talking heavy rain, gale force winds and thick blankets of snow on top of mountains outside the city. It has really been a chilly time so far and of cause I needed to protect my skin from drying out at all costs. Prior to the world being in absolute pandemonium, I was working in Qatar and before my emergency flight home, I managed to make a quick stop at Sephora to purchase the Dr Jart Ceramidin Liquid. It has been on my wish list for almost a year now and I'm so glad I finally purchased it. I promise you; this product has literally been a life saver to my skin at this time. Dr Jart is a Korean skin care brand that has been making huge waves in the cosmetic world, especially in the Western markets. I have reviewed a sheet mask from them which you can read here. This time I decided to dive a little deeper into the brand and test the Ceramidin line which is targeted at dry, flaky and sensitive skin.

There are five products within the Ceramidin range but the one which intrigued me the most is the Ceramidin Liquid. This product is described as a moisturising toner which contains 5 Cera Complex. These are ceramide components aimed to coat and replenish the lost ceramides naturally found within our skin. Ceramides deplete over time as we age and due to environmental factors. The loss of these ceramides causes dryness and rapid ageing. This liquid aide the skin in replenishing what was lost while soothing and protecting the epidermis. It serves as a barrier to lock in moisture as well as keep environmental damage at bay. Other notable ingredients within the toner is Turmeric Root Extract known for its ant-inflammatory benefits, and Sodium Hyaluronic which is a smaller molecule than Hyaluronic Acid. It is able to penetrate into the cells acting as a humectant helping the skin to retain moisture. Finally, Fig Fruit Extract is a wonderful antioxidant as well and enhances skin hydration while preventing water loss. As you can see this liquid is jam packed with all the right ingredients for supple and healthy skin.

The Ceramidin line is packaged in clean and simple plastic bottles. There are not much thrills and over excessive gimmicky packaging. I can appreciate this as the products are packed for simplicity, travel friendly and no fuss usage. The toner contains 150 ml of product but looks can be deceiving as the bottles look very small to the naked eye. Therefore, the packaging is compact and easy to store but contains a lot of product which will last you a really long time. The only thing I disliked about the liquid bottle is the actual cap and nozzle. It has a really short and stubby opening, which can make application clumsy and messy. A pump or an opening with a longer nozzle would give the product a cleaner control when using it.

As you can see in the photos below, the toner has a thicker texture compared to your generic watery consistencies. This toner has an essence and serum hybrid type of formula. It feels and looks quite milky but absorbs quickly and effortlessly into the skin. I like to pour a pea sized amount into the palm of my hands and gently pat it onto my skin. The formula is not overly runny and you can therefore take your time pressing the product onto the dry areas of the face. Since the toner is milky in texture, it is better to pat it onto the face with your hands like a serum instead of using a cotton pad to apply. You will lose most of the liquid being absorbed into the cotton and not being absorbed by the skin. For application I firstly cleanse my skin with a face wash, then I apply Micellar/toner water to further prep and cleanse the surface area. I then gentle pat the Ceramidin Liquid onto my skin, followed by a serum and moisturiser.

This liquid formula is very rich and packed with hydration. You can see an immediate difference on your face after applying the toner. If you have oily or combination skin like me, you can totally skip a serum and move straight onto your cream if you wish. The essence is packed with moisture, and the dryness I usually find around my forehead and mouth area during the Winter time is completely removed. It not only moisturises the skin, but gives a soothing and calming effect as well. I love to use this at night when temperature plummet and wake up to beautiful soft, hydrated and glowing skin in the morning. This is honestly one of the best products I have purchased this year and I definitely want to order more when I run out. It has been a skin hero during these very chilly months. If you are someone that suffers from dry, sensitive and flaky skin, I think you would really benefit from this product. I recommend it with 5 gold stars.
