Happy Diva 2020

Hi Divas

''Testing, testing, one two three, one two three; is this thing on?'' I feel like I'm hitting the mic on this blog while my voice cracks through the speaker, LOL. It has literally been last year since I wrote on Diva Desle and I feel very rusty and a little fragile. I never thought that I would take such a long break from posting but here I am in the last week of January 2020 trying to get it together. It's been almost two months since my last blog entry and I truly needed the break. If you read that blog post (here), you would know that I was emotionally and physically tired of 2019. I had so much built up anxiety from the year, that I even had muscle spasms in my lower back. I honestly didn't want to carry that emotional baggage into 2020, so I decided to ease into the year, doing some spiritual reflection. My festive season was relaxing and I literally ate my way through Christmas and New Year. I have a few extra kilos around my waist to prove it too. I also quietly celebrated my birthday this month by doing things I always wanted to do. As you get older, you realise that birthdays should be spent doing things you personally enjoy and not trying to impress people. That is another thing I realised this holiday period. People are not always your well-wishers, and you should dust yourself off and keep it moving. Life is too precious to be worried about trivial things. On that note, here is a roundup of things I loved these holidays and some unexpected blessings. Hope you all are well and thank you for reaching out to me in more ways than one. By the way, I have a whole lot of reviews coming up, so buckle up for all that beauty content. Kisses!

Birthday Treat
January is my birthday month, which means the party does not stop for me after the new year rolls in. My birthday was very low key this year as I decided to do things that I always loved. These may seem completely boring and mundane to you, but for me they were a dream come true. I absolutely adore the sea. It is one of my most favourite places on earth. I love the vast serene open space, the uncertainty of what lies beneath, the scent of fresh salty air as well as the calming effect it has on my soul. On my birthday morning I decided to enjoy two of my favourite things which are coffee and the sea with my sister. We sat peacefully in the rays of the sunrise, watching the waves go by, while dogs went on their morning run. To our surprise, there was a school of dolphins frolicking in the morning glory too, and it was such a gorgeous sight to behold. I will never forget that peaceful dream like birthday morning. It was such a blessing.

Cape Town Summer
Guys, Cape Town summer just never gets old. No matter how many times you have seen the views that this city has to offer, you still stand in awe and wonder at the beauty God created. From the picturesque mountain tops to the pristine beaches and glorious sunsets, our Summers are truly beautiful. Not to say that we had some unexpected hiccups this season. They say that Cape Town's weather is like a woman's mood; forever changing! Rude but so true. We had some serious gale force winds that nearly toppled everyone over for a few days. I was in the CBD one afternoon and the South Easterly wind shook my heavy-duty car. To say I was scared is an understatement. We also had quite a few showers, including a gloomy Christmas Day. Completely strange, as out festive season is usually sweltering hot. I was not complaining though, since God was providing the much-needed rain for our city which was struggling from drought two years ago. Disguised blessings, I tell you!

Fitness Motivation
As mentioned above, I ate my whole festive season away, and it is visibly showing when I put on my clothes. Last year, I made great progress in my health journey and looked and felt better than I had in years. I want to get back into my fitness routine and what better way to do that, than to break in my new pink Adidas trainers. It was love at first sight when I saw them and decided to treat myself during a massive sale. I will do a separate blog post on my fitness routine and healthy lifestyle, as that is a whole adventure filled with ups and downs. For now, my pink Adidas are giving me so much motivation to look and feel good from the inside out and keep moving.

 Unexpected Blessings
I want to send out a huge shout out and thank you to my blogger friend Kim from the USA. She has an amazing blog filled with beauty reviews and more at A Very Sweet Blog. This woman has a heart of pure gold. She wished me a happy new year by generously sending me a big package filled with beauty treats that I have never tried before. I was completely speechless when I opened the box. Her kind-hearted and benevolent soul is truly to be admired. I pray that God blesses her abundantly. I have already started to play with some of the goodies she sent me and wore it on my birthday. Look out for all the upcoming reviews on those products.

Thank you all so much for reading and I wish you a happy 2020.
I know my new year wishes are super delayed but better late than never right, LOL!
Lots of love. Divalicious Kisses.
Xxxx
