Makeup Revolution Retro Luxe Matte Lip Kit Noble Review

Hi Divas

Ever since Makeup Revolution hit South African shores there has been so much talk about their liquid lipstick products. I of cause had to try it out for myself to see what the hype was all about. I personally don't wear a lot of liquid lipsticks and only ever had one in my collection. What intrigued me most about this particular product is that it resembled the Huda Beauty and Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits for a fraction of the cost. You get a lipstick and lip liner all in one and you don't have to max out your credit card. I have never tried Huda Beauty nor Kylie Cosmetics Lip kits, so unfortunately, I cannot compare them thoroughly to Makeup Revolution. Although if I can find an affordable alternative to a very pricey product, I am here for it body, mind and soul! I personally love matte lipsticks. I have pretty full lips and I feel they look very flattering on me. Doing research online there seems to be eight shades within this range, but I only saw five in stores so far. I chose the shade Noble as this one seemed to be a brown toned nude which would suit my complexion perfectly.

The packaging for these lipsticks is truly sleek and chic. I love the black, white and gold theme on the box. It is simple and has a touch of glamour. The packaging of the lipstick and liner is sturdy and feels luxurious. The lip liner is fairly long in size and would last a really long time. The liquid lipstick has rose gold cap with a perfectly sized wand and doe foot applicator. You can see the actual shade of the lipstick on the box, at the tail end of the lip liner and in the lip tube. The shade matches well to the description on the box as well as the two products. There have been some discrepancies between colours being off from other shades regarding packaging but not with 'Noble'. The shade Noble is a brick brown nude with hints of terracotta and peach. The lip liner is slightly lighter in tone compared to the lipstick but they both match well. This colour is universally flattering on all skin tones and is rich in tone.

To apply the colour I started off by lining my lips with the liner. The product is surprisingly soft to use and glides on quite creamy. I do not over line my lips as I have full lips already but you can create a lovely effect if you do as the product is workable and not hard. I filled my entire lip with the pencil and the shade was so pretty, you could totally wear it just like that on its own. It does not look dry or flaky. The first photo below on the far top left is just the pencil shade. As you can see it glided on my lips smoothly and looks good as is. When applying the liquid lipstick, I was shocked at the consistency of the formula. The texture is thin but completely opaque. I was expecting a thicker formula but the liquid lip glides on quite watery and the colour is rich in pigmentation. It does not dry down immediately, hence there is time to work with the lipstick and apply as many coats as you want. Even though the texture is thin it does not run or drip down the mouth. The wand is a lovely size and disperses the product evenly across the surface of the lips. The colour goes on smoothly and does not crack. There are no patches or uneven spots when it comes to the shade Noble.

The liquid lipstick lasts superbly well throughout the day. I was expecting it to be completely rubbed off after eating lunch and drinking water and coffee all day. I kid you not, there was some fading but the initial colour remained all day. There was no flaking, patchiness or dry spots. This shade did not settle into fine lines too and there was no bleeding or smudging. I am truly impressed with the quality of this one. I have read reviews on other shades and they do not last as long as Noble. The pigmentation and bold colour are well made and looks great on my lips. I do have to say that I did prep my lips well before applying the matte formula. I exfoliated my lips and got rid of any dead skin. I too applied a moisturizing lip balm underneath to protect my lips. I do believe these steps helped a lot in ensuring great wear from this liquid lip. I love this shade Noble and would definitely purchase it again.
