This week I will be reviewing one the most luxurious eyeshadow palettes I have ever owned. When I think of the brand Guerlain there are two words that come to my mind: Pure Luxury. That is exactly how I would describe the Ecrin 6 Couleurs Tailored Harmonies palette. At a first glance, the palette doesn't look anything like makeup packaging. The case resembles an elegant jewelry box for a diamond necklace or bracelet fit for a queen. This is the heaviest palette I have ever come across as the casing is made out of metal. The eyeshadow palette comes in a sleek black box with a black velvet pouch. Inside is a beautiful metallic case with an ornate cut out pattern design and an engraved bee on it. It looks so elegant and regal, hence the doubt of could this really be an eyeshadow palette? Once your heart has stopped skipping a few beats and you can come to terms with the opulent packaging, when you open the case you find 6 eyeshadows, a mini brush and a flap open mirror too. The palette comes with an instructional pamphlet, explaining the different eyeshadows and diagrams of how you can create three different looks using this palette.There are 6 eyeshadow palettes in this collection to choose from and I have the shade #93 Rue De Passy (super fancy title). I feel like a medieval queen when I use this eyeshadow palette. The packaging is totally on fleek! This gets a 100% rating in the makeup packaging awards department.

This palette deserves 10 gold stars for packaging!!!

This particular palette comes in brown, taupe, and grey purple shades. There is a black eyeshadow as well to create the perfect smokey eye. Three of the shades are matte, which is the black shade on the far right, the light brown shade on the top left and the taupe shade which is a perfect crease colour on your far left. At the bottom right is a satin brown shade. On the top right is a greyish purple shade that is gorgeous for a sultry eye. In the middle is a frosty pink shimmer shade that can be used as a brow highlighter or to dust over the lid area. All of the shades are very pigmented and blend easily. In this particular palette the colours are pretty neutral and safe. You can create an everyday look for the office or you can go dark and sultry for a night time look. The eyeshadows are very elegant and the colours are timeless. Any age group from a teenager to a more matured lady would enjoy this palette and create a look that is unique and classic. I love to use this palette on my mom's eyes too. I feel the shades look amazing on her and make her look glammed up without overdoing it on the shimmer as other palettes tend to do.

Romantic Smokey Eye look

As you can see in the photo above, I opted for a subtle and romantic smokey eye look. I think this look would be perfect for a date night. Not that I go on any of those, anyway! I absolutely adore this palette and love wearing it in the Autumn and Winter months. To be honest with you, at first I was afraid to use it as it was so luxurious and I didn't want to mess it up. I soon got over that fear and started playing around with the pretty shades. I suppose you can get these particular shades in other palettes as they are nothing new or unique to speak of. The wow factor about this palette is definitely the packaging. If you are looking to splurge a whole lot more and want to add something beautiful to your growing makeup collection, then I urge you to visit a Guerlain counter close to you.

I am back with another Hask product review from my Clicks haul. This will be my last review out of the range for now. You can read my Hask Macadamia Oil review here and my Hask Argan review here. I have never heard of Monoi Oil before until I saw these products in store. I was eager to find out more about the benefits of Monoi oil, where it comes from and if it will work for my hair. To my surprise Monoi oil comes from Tiare flowers, also known as Tahitian gardenias, soaked and infused in coconut oil. Many of us know the great benefits of coconut oil on our skin and hair but when it is combined with the Tiare flowers it creates a powerful combination that is very beneficial for your hair. Monoi oil is known to protect hair from breaking by reducing the loss of proteins in the hair shaft. It is also filled with Vitamin E which strengthens the hair. The oil eliminates frizz and makes hair soft, shiny and easy to manage. On the Hask product bottle both the shampoo and conditioner is described as a moisturising and revitalizing product for the hair. It promises to hydrate, strengthen, detangle and smooth lifeless hair. These products too are sulfate, paraben and cruelty free.

Hask Monoi Oil Shampoo and Conditioner:

I absolutely love this shampoo out of all the Hask range. It has a creamy pearly white texture that lathers wonderfully on the hair. The shampoo is very moisturising and it really feels like you are pampering your hair while washing it. It is much more luxurious and rich than the Macadamia oil and Argan oil shampoo. A little really goes a long way because this shampoo lathers up quickly and washes hair thoroughly. My hair feels soft and smooth when I rinse the shampoo out of my hair. Moving on to the conditioner, it has a similar light texture as the other conditioners in the range. The texture feels like a light lotion as the others too. I love to drench my long thick locks in conditioner, so I spread this all over my hair from root to tip and leave it on for 20 minutes. Once I feel the conditioner has soaked in thoroughly I rinse the product out my hair. The conditioner makes my hair so soft and silky smooth. It is quite surprising as the conditioner does not feel heavy on application but it does an amazing job in eliminating frizz and making my hair more soft and manageable. 

As you can see in the photo above, I blow-dried my hair and these products made my hair extra straight and smooth. I really wasn't expecting this silky result. I thought these products would work ok but it actually works amazingly well if you want extra sleek hair. After three days my hair was still smooth and straight with no signs of frizz. Ladies, I am in love with this range. I am a big fan of the coconut scent too. It smells really lovely and tropical. If you are looking for hair products that create a sleek straight look and eliminates frizz then definitely give this range a try. I don't think you will be disappointed. For those of you who have thin hair and want some volume, this range might be a little heavy for you as I did notice my hair had less volume than before. I personally did not mind this though as I loved the silky soft result and the gorgeous healthy shine it gave to my hair.

Hi Divas

This week I want to take a break from the reviews and do a fun tag. Winter is almost coming to a close in the Southern Hemisphere. I am really glad that Summer is approaching again because Cape Town has been particularly cold these last three months. I am so looking forward to the warm sunshine days, lazing around on the beach and wearing my pretty bright dresses again. What I will miss about Winter time is not worrying about whether I look fat in an outfit or not. In Winter you can wear heavy coats and big slouchy jerseys to cover up the extra bulges on the body. Lol, that is my favourite thing about Winter. I think this tag is done. Hehehe, just joking. I will be doing a random Winter tag in this post. Hope you all enjoy reading and learning a little more about me. You can answer some of the questions in the comment section below too.

1. Do you like winter?
No. I am a Summer baby. I don't like getting cold.


2. What is your fave fashion accessory for the winter season?
I love wearing different coloured scarves and textures. It really brightens up an outfit and changes the look. 


3. What is your fave winter activity?
Reading and drinking tea/coffee in my bed.


4. What is your fave winter scent?
I adore the Guerlain scent La Petite Robe Noire. It is a beautiful sweet and fruity scent that is very warm and inviting. I love the cute bottle packaging too. It is fit for a diva! ;-)


5. What is your fave winter drink?
Anything with coffee in it. I love drinking decadent lattes and Mocha cafes. Yum!


6. What is your fave winter lip colour?
I like a dark smouldering lip. Be it a dark purple, red or plum shades. My favourites are Gemma by Stila, Rapture by Urban Decay, Shanghai Express by Nars and Cinnamon Spice by Wet n' Wild.


7. What is your fave Winter holiday movie?
 I don't really have an absolute favourite Winter movie, but I do enjoy watching The Holiday and The Secret Garden with a big bowl of popcorn and my warm oversized blanket.


8. What is your fave winter blush?
Too Faced Sweethearts blush in Peach Beach is my favourite. It gives a beautiful peach and bronzy glow in the winter time. It really warms up the face.


9. What is your fave winter holiday treat?
 My bed! I rarely go away on holiday during the Winter months. I prefer being cozy in my bed.


10.What is your fave nail colour/polish for the winter season?
 I don't have a favourite Winter nail polish as I wear all my bright colours all year round. I enjoyed my leopard print manicure that I did a while back. It is dark and vampy, yet still fun to wear. I want to recreate that manicure again. It is great for Winter time.

Hi Divas!

A few weeks ago I reviewed the Hask Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner on the blog. I also gave a short insight into the Hask brand which is relatively new to my side of the world. You can read the Argan Oil Post here. This week I will be reviewing my favourite from the Hask line which is the Macadamia Oil shampoo and conditioner. Macadamia Oil is another miracle product for your hair. The oil is obtained from Macadamia plant seeds and it is rich in Vitamin E, Vitamin B Complex, Calcium and Iron. These super nutrients coat the hair and protect it from further damage such as breakage and dryness. The oil is light weight and absorbs easily into your hair, making your hair silky smooth and frizz free. The oil is also known to protect your hair from sun damage and leave your hair with a healthy shine. On the Hask bottle the products are described as a hydrating and moisturising shampoo and conditioner. It promises to quench your hair's thirst by adding extra hydration and moisture and eliminate dry damaged hair. These products are Paraben, sulfate and alcohol free as well as cruelty free too.

Hask Macadamia Oil Shampoo and Conditioner:

The products come in a generous 355 ml bottle which I love. The more product quantity the better for me, because you get your money's worth. The shampoo has a thick pearl white consistency and smells divine. It has a sweet vanilla scent which I adore. I love anything vanilla. The rich creamy shampoo lathers well throughout my hair. It cleanses my scalp thoroughly without leaving it feeling dry or itchy. The shampoo is very moisturising and softens my hair whilst cleansing it. It is really easy to work through my hair and a little product goes a long way. The conditioner has a light white creamy texture, but don't let that fool you. This conditioner is packed with moisture. I love to coat my hair in as much conditioner as possible and leave it on my hair for about 15 minutes. I swear this conditioner is amazing. It feels so light weight on my head but it deep conditions my hair making it tangle free and super soft. When I rinsed the conditioner out of my hair I couldn't believe how soft and tangle free it was.


As I have mentioned in a previous post I have long and thick hair. This conditioner made my hair so silky smooth, it was such a breeze to blow dry my hair and style it. As you can see in the photo above, my hair is smooth, straight and shiny. The shampoo and conditioner definitely does what it says. It moisturises the hair leaving it soft and smooth. These products I feel are much heavier in consistency than the Argan Oil range. It made my hair really smooth and my hair had less volume. If you are someone with thin hair and you are looking for an extra bounce and body, then the Macadamia range might be a little too heavy for you. I do have to mention that there are surprisingly completely mixed reviews about the Hask hair product range. Some bloggers love it while others hate it. My blogger friend Kim from Averysweetblog, did not have a good experience with these products. It made her hair brittle and dry. You can read her review here. I guess you won't know if these products will work for you unless you give them a try and read reviews before hand.

Hi Divas!

It is officially August! Can we just take a moment to contemplate where the time is flying off to. Gees, universe slow down. Hope you are all having a good year so far. This month of July has been a little busy for me with work because it was the school holidays which meant more theatre shows for me. Besides work I have been embracing the cold Winter days. I don't particularly like Winter, my favourite season is Summer time. Nevertheless I have been making the most of these chilly days and finding little pleasures in the month of July. Here are 10 things that made me smile this month. You can let me know below whatever brought happiness to your heart this month too.

1. Pink Makeup Brushes: As most of you know I am a pink freak! When I saw these brushes for sale online they were seriously calling my name. I just had to have them. They are so beautiful and make me so incredibly happy when I apply my makeup in the morning. It just makes the process a lot sweeter when I have cute pink brush handles in my hand. They are as soft as bunny tails too. I am in love!

2. Milkshakes In Winter: I don't care how cold it is. It can be minus 40 and I won't resist a yummy chocolate milkshake. I just love that initial chilly feeling you get when you first sip your ice cold milkshake on an ice cold day. That feeling makes me smile ;-)

3. Korean Cosmetics Haul: I am totally gaga about Korean beauty products. I know I promised a haul post a long time ago but I promise it is coming soon. Any way I recently received three packages filled with Korean cosmetics. The packaging alone makes my heart skip a beat. How can makeup be so pretty and super cute all at the same time? Just look at that bright pink lipstick in the photo above. It looks like it belongs in a my Little Pony series. So cute!

4. Good Hair Days: So it's full blown winter in South Africa and Cape Town is especially wet and windy during these months. Cape Town winter weather is not kind to hair. The moist and windy air always makes my hair into a frizzy mess. Thank goodness for Argan Oil and Macadamia Oil shampoos and conditioners. My hair has never felt this luxurious in winter months. Good hair makes for a happy lady.

5. The Sea On A Cold Rainy Day: Have you ever noticed how beautiful the sea looks on cold grey days. It as a unique and mysterious beauty to it. Absolutely gorgeous and gives me warm and fuzzy feelings inside.

6. Devdas, My favourite Bollywood Movie: Guys!!!! This is my favourite Bollywood movie of life! I swear I could watch this film over and over again and never get tied of it. The story line is so heart wrenching, the costumes and cinematography are absolutely breathtaking. If you have never seen this movie, I urge you to watch it. I want to read the book too but I am struggling to find a English translation online, since it is written in Hindi.

7. Reading in Bed With A Latte And Chocolate: There is nothing better than cosing up in your pj's and fluffy socks in bed with a great book and some yummy chocolates and a latte to warm you up. The best me time ever!

8. Dressing Up In Bear Costumes: I have really enjoyed stepping out of the normal daily routines of life and shaking it up with a fat suit and some heavy bear makeup. It makes me so happy to dance around in a bear suit now and then. I also enjoy the process of putting on my bear makeup. I swear I could give all those YouTube beauty gurus a run for their money with my bear makeup tutorials. Lol!

9. Homemade Butternut Soup: I am not really a soup person but butternut soup is always a winner in my book. I especially love it when it's homemade and made with lots of love and a sprinkle of nutmeg. Mmmm ;-)

10. Brown paper packages tied up with string!: Lastly, what made my heart extremely happy was receiving packages from overseas that I have been waiting more than two months for. Thanks to the South African post office and their crappy service, my parcels have been stuck at customs for ages. I finally got my gifts this month. I am still waiting for one more package though, so I am holding thumbs. Big Yay, for mail! (Hashtag: #ThirdWorldProblems)
