STRAIGHT and SLEEK with GHD

I adore my pink GHD which I got for my crown birthday a few years ago. It has become a definite life saver for me and my hair especially during the winter months. You know Cape Town's crazy winds and wet rainy days are not kind to a girl's locks. So my trusty GHD always keeps my hair looking tame and sleek. I have naturally curly hair but I love it when I have sleek straight hair. You know the age old dilemma. Girls with curly hair want straight hair. Girls with straight hair want curly hair. What's a girl to do? Luckily I can achieve both depending on my mood. .

What do I do to achieve a sleek straight look? I use my Ghd straightening balm, Ghd thermal protector spray and of cause my pink Ghd.

Ghd Straightening Balm
I have used many straightening products throughout the years, and I do have to say that this is the best straightening balm I have ever used. It does not cause oiliness nor does it leave your hair heavy and weighed down. My hair is straight and bouncy with a lovely shine. Many straightening balms cause dandruff and leave a horrible residue on the scalp. This one does not do that at all! The balm smooths the hair and does not irritate the scalp. Apply a small amount of the balm onto wet hair and comb through. It eliminates frizz and makes blow drying a breeze. Your hair is left silky smooth.

Ghd Thermal Heat Protecting Spray
It is important to use a heat protecting product on your hair before using your straightening iron. Iron temperatures are extremely hot and can really damage the hair by frying it, breaking it off and causing split ends. This spray protects the hair from heat damage by forming a protective layer over the hair and locking in moisture. It can be sprayed onto dry or wet hair before blow drying or ironing. Spray it on each section of hair before you apply the iron. I like to brush it through the hair for extra distribution.

Tips for GHD Styling
-Never ever iron your hair when it's wet. Ever! This causes serious damage to your hair shaft.
-Always use a heat protector product.
-Iron hair in small sections for a smoother finish.
-Never leave the iron on your hair for longer than a few seconds. Smoke and the smell of burnt hair is not a good sign!
-Try not to iron your hair every day. All that heat can cause serious damage. Wrap a silky scarf  around your head when you go to bed to keep the hair sleek.
-For best results, blow dry hair straight first and smooth it over with your hair iron.
-Use a deep conditioning mask to nourish and moisturise your tresses.

Hope you found this review useful. Will do a post on how I rock my natural curly locks soon:-)
