Mercedes Benz
Fashion Week
Cape Town 2013
This past weekend I had the privilege of attending the Mercedes Benz Cape Town Fashion week. I have always wanted to attend and finally got the chance too. I saw three designers named Shana, Lo and Spilt Milk showcasing their new Spring/Summer collection for 2013/2014 all from the first two seats in the front row. Yay!
One thing I learnt from attending my first fashion week event is that I really need to invest in an excellent camera next time I attend. My little camera phone just didn't do the clothes justice at all. Lesson learnt!:-)
Here are the designers collection:

Here are the designers collection:
SHANA
Shana's designs were filled with crisp white silky shirts, floral and gold glittered dresses with a pop of bright orange on the shorts and shirts. I especially loved the glittered blazers and the contrast of bold orange with silky whites. Here is a little video of one of the floral dresses and the girls walking out on the runway at the end of the show:

LO
LO's designs were inspired by earthy tones and an atmosphere of summer holidays and white washed beaches. She opened her show with a video of waves washing back and off on a sandy beach encapsulating the beauty of the sea and its calming and natural appeal. Her line was filled with summery neutral toned holiday dresses. Here is a mini video from one of her pretty creations:
SPILT MILK
My favourite designer of the show was definitely Spilt Milk with the vintage circus theme. I loved the way the designer mixed the eccentric circus attire with the modern day designs. The show was fun and had the wow factor. I love all things fun, strange and a little crazy and this show embodied all of that. See the designs below:
*A HUGE THANK YOU TO NAEEMAH!!!
