*Beautiful Little Ones*

I am a freelance actress meaning I get to act crazy for my bread and butter. One of my favourite jobs that I do is working for theatre companies and travelling around the Western Cape doing musicals and puppet road shows. I always enjoy this kind of work because I get to road trip and travel to towns that I wouldn't normally go to and see places I have never heard of like ,Klaasvoogds, which is just outside Robertson.

I love performing and was told have been doing it since I was three:-) I am not afraid of the stage. Instead I am more fired up than ever when I am on it. I take great pleasure in entertaining people.

Some outside performances; kids playing outside; hall performances
The best and most fulfilling performances are when I get to perform for children in the rural areas who have never seen a theatre show before and some will never attend a theatre production in their life time. Just to see their beautiful faces, reactions and them living the story through us is the best feeling in the whole world. I love making them smile and entertaining them for an hour.

Most of these children come from really rural towns and live in serious poverty. One farm school we went to the children have to go to the toilet in the bush behind the school because there are no toilets or running water on the premises. At some schools we have to perform outside in the wind and drizzle and have to make sure our set does not fall over because of the strong winds. They don't have school halls and the classrooms are too small to do the show.
I am happy that almost all of these schools have the government feeding programmes where the kids receive a big plate of food once a day. And those plates really are big;-)

I have learned so much through them in the 7 years that I have been doing these shows. To appreciate everything that I have. Never take going to the toilet and opening the tap for water for granted. Always remember that there are people out there who are less fortunate than you and try to lend a helping hand where you can.
Most of these children just wanted the biggest hugs. They are so happy and joyful and live life to the fullest with the little they have.

I just wanted to share their beautiful faces with you. Xxxx

  1. I must admit that you are an angel sent from Heaven. What you are doing for those children in and of itself is nothing short of a miracle. Society has been spoiled rotten with the need or want of material things, but these precious untainted children are satisfied with what you give them. The giving of one's time and service to others is the greatest gift of all. Beautiful and selfless post.

  5. This is such a sweet little post! I am so glad you do this for these kids.
On Saturday my sister and I took one of our nieces to a orphanage for her birthday. We want to teach her from a young age that there are others less privileged than her and that she should try to share what she has. It was really heart warming to watch how excited the kids got when she walked in with cake and the little party packets!
